Press Release Excerpt:
Adam Powers and Jeremy Rush, 20-year restaurant veterans are proud to join the South Portland new food scene with their first Elsmere BBQ and Wood Grill restaurant, offering dine-in, take-out and full bar. Adam Powers says “Barbecue is the only true American indigenous cuisine”. He spent years “studying” barbecue, stopping at every little diner or BBQ joint he could find on road trips, searching for the perfect smoke, the perfect sauce. Elsmere BBQ and Wood Grill offers authentic Texan style BBQ, right in your backyard. “Mama” is Elsmere’s nicknamed smoker. It is the only Bewley Texas-built barbecue pit in the Northeast (even North of Washington, D.C.), with the capacity to cook over 600 pounds of delicious BBQ at one time.
A garage back in the 20’s, most recently a dry-cleaner, Elsmere’s custom built interior is inspired by its past trades. Designed around an authentic 13ft marquee sign from the 40’s, the tone is set for the overall decor, mixing raw materials such as concrete and hundred year old reclaimed woods from whiskey barrels. Elsmere BBQ and Wood Grill is a proud member of the South Portland community and plans to host local events and fundraisers on a regular basis.
