What is “Exit Strategy Planning” and why is it important?

Exit Strategy Planning is defining a road map that details the  necessary steps to leave your business and not your wealth. We determine your mental and financial readiness to leave your business and design a working document that will be used by you, your legal counsel, personal financial advisor and CPA to move towards one cohesive goal: Your optimum business exit. You had a plan when you started your business and you need one when you leave your business behind. Only 20% of businesses on the market achieve their desired outcome of a successful sale. Of family businesses only 40% get passed down and less than 12% make it to the next generation. A large number of business owners rely on the proceeds from a business-sale to retire.

What do you mean by “corporate renewal”?

All businesses go through an ebb and flow. Some go through an almost visible “S” curve of rapid growth, peaking out, and decline. Others simply get into overleveraged positions or lose their underlying marketplace. When a business hits a downturn, it is the setting for corporate renewal. Perhaps it is a matter of one of the following: evaluating the economy, changing the business model, adding further equity, selling the company, restructuring the debt, or seeking a new market. All of these approaches, and more, constitute corporate renewal.

Why should we hire a business consultant?

At Opus our favorite saying is, “Do what you do best and outsource the rest”. You should be using your time developing a business team, product and customer base. Whether it is creating a business plan or preparing a 13 week cash flow analysis, we feel strongly that by using specialists you create something worthy of being associated with your company. Also by using a third party you’ll receive special insight into your business and be asked questions you may not have thought about before.

What type of company do you usually work with?

All kinds.  We work with a variety of organizations across a range of industries, from Fortune 500’s to renewable energy startups. One thing our clients have in common is that they come to us looking for help to identify opportunities to develop business strategies that save money and grow their business at the same time.

What do you charge per hour?

We can provide you with an evaluation of your circumstances and potential approaches to it.  That will cost you nothing.  Should you decide to retain Opus Consulting Group to assist you, the cost will vary depending on the time it takes or the type of services you wish to use. Our fees are fairly standard for the industry.  Furthermore, the value added is substantial. And the fees are small compared to the potential for further deterioration of your business.

Do you have references?

Yes. We would be delighted to introduce you to our past clients.

Will you sign a non-disclosure agreement?

Yes. We prefer to use a mutual non-disclosure agreement so our own trade secrets are protected as well.

Any other disclosures?
